The Requirement

Verizon’s popular data backup mobile app needed a redesign to keep up with changing consumer tastes, and needed to appeal to consumers of all ages, including Gen-Z kids, millennial adults, and the elderly in the United States.

The goal was to develop a visually appealing and engaging interface to enhance user satisfaction and set the service apart from competitors. Additionally, they sought to make the interface more intuitive and user-friendly, reducing the learning curve for new users and increasing productivity for existing users.

Our Approach

We collaborated closely with Verizon's product innovation team, business analysts and developers over a span of 2 years to produce a brand new interactive experience in the application. Rigorous design testing allowed us to create a design system for VZ Cloud along with crafting pixel-perfect visual designs tailored to iOS, Android, and web platforms.

Auditing the existing app

We began our UI redesign by extensively auditing the existing app to understand its current state. This audit identified key pain points such as a cluttered interface, inconsistent design elements, and the need for better integration of new features.

Competitor landscaping

Recognizing these issues, we conducted a detailed market analysis to understand current trends and best practices in cloud backup service interfaces. This analysis ensured that our redesign would not only address existing problems but also align with contemporary design standards, providing a modern and intuitive user experience.

Pixel perfect screens

We collaborated closely with various product owners throughout this process, and this approach allowed us to refine our designs based on continuous feedback, ultimately leading to a cohesive and polished final product.

The outcome

The new design was released in phases to the customers after a lot of testing. The modern and attractive interface increased user engagement, leading to more frequent use of the service.The navigation was simplified, making it easier for users to find features and functions and streamlining complex workflows to facilitate backups, restores, and other tasks without requiring extensive training.
