Business Challenge

Maya is a SaaS product developed by Crayon Data, a Singapore based software company working in the space of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. There was an imminent need to empower banks with a scalable analytical tool to collate and interpret customers’ transaction data without dependency on an external agency.

Crayon Data contacted Twist Open UX to design this financial product; one that was going to transform how banks understood their customers in order to create customized campaigns for them.

Solving the right problem before polishing the solution

Through our extensive interactions with the management at Crayon Data, we constructed three principles that reflected how Credit Card Portfolio Owners within banks would use this product : (1) Discover customer tastes (2) Customise engagement (3) Expand business

Each of these three principles resulted in building three independent products ; The Taste Studio, Engage Studio and Commerce Studio - each with distinct functions and information architecture.

Interplay between Products

The Taste Studio maps customer transaction history, allowing Credit Card portfolio owners to view changes in tastes of their customers. The visualization lets them zoom in and see every change at a granular level. The Engage Studio carries an opportunity explorer that allows the bank to understand the revenue opportunity for the target customers. It also depicts the lost opportunity by mapping the customer tastes to the list of merchant offers on credit cards. The Commerce Studio is a market place that provides visibility of merchant offers that banks can leverage, based on their customer's changing tastes. The Commerce Studio lets the stakeholders easily evaluate performances of merchant offers so that they can allocate their budgets efficiently.

Data - Visualization

What makes this project special is the dynamic graphical representation of data; they provide an accessible way to visualize and quantify aspects like available opportunities or selected demographics and categories. It has simplified how information can be consumed by the user. From a branding perspective, Crayon Data wanted Maya to have a fresh, new and modern feel, that was different from traditional financial services. Keeping this in mind we played with a meaningful colour palette for each studio while working within the brand guidelines.
